STFC is one of nine Councils within UK Research and Innovation, an organisation that brings together the UK’s Research Councils, Innovate UK and Research England. Our Privacy Notice, which describes how STFC and other UK Research and Innovation Councils handle personal data can be accessed on the UKRI website.

STFC may collect personal information from you via this website, for example, if you register with us for services, in order to receive news and announcements, and your information may be stored manually or electronically.

This website will automatically track certain information about you in the course of you using this website, such as your IP address and browser identification. This information is used only for system administration and for providing statistics to evaluate use of this site. We do not use cookies for collecting personal information from this site. (A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer`s hard drive.)

  • Your name and email are only stored to send you a login link for your course and to allow the course organiser to identify users.
  • They will be deleted when the course is complete.
  • Your name and email will be visible only to the course organiser and members of the DAaaS team, and won't be shared with anyone else.
  • If you want your data to be deleted at any other point, please contact your course organiser to be removed from the course. Any data stored about you will be deleted with this action.

Terms of use

This is an official website of DAaaS (“DAaaS” or “we” or “us” or “our”). Your use of this website is subject to the following terms and conditions (“Terms”). We may change these Terms by updating this page at any time and it is your responsibility to check you are still willing to be bound by them.

Our liability

This website is for hosting and attending training courses, and interactively following course materials purposes only. The contents of the course materials are managed by the course organiser and tutors. We make all reasonable efforts to ensure that all other content on this site is accurate and current. However, we cannot accept liability for any losses or damages which may arise from using or relying on information on this website.

We believe the research we support is of high quality and we support peer review of all research outputs generated by grant holders. However, we are not liable in relation to any conclusions that might be drawn or actions that might be taken on the basis of research we support, including preliminary findings of research that might be altered during peer review.

Acceptable use

You may not use the website or any information it contains in any way that:

  • disrupts the normal working of the website
  • infringes any copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, other proprietary rights, or rights of publicity or privacy in any way
  • is illegal or otherwise unlawful
  • has not been requested, including un-solicited bulk email or spamming
  • is libellous, abusive, menacing or offensive or may harass or cause distress or inconvenience to any person
  • is obscene, vulgar, pornographic or is otherwise against public policy
  • facilitates the transmission of any virus or other material that could potentially damage the website, and any computers or internet services that are connected to it.

    If we become aware of any violation of these terms, we reserve the right to take action to stop the violation. This may include removing information, suspending or removing a user, and providing relevant information to external bodies where required by law or regulation.

    We have no obligation to monitor or censor any information that users store within, or transmit through, the website. We are not responsible for any injury, damage, or offence that results from such storage and transmission of information.

    The names, images and logos identifying UK Research and Innovation and STFC, are subject to Copyright. Copying of our logos and/or any other third party logos accessed via this website is not permitted without prior approval from the relevant copyright owner.

    Except as permitted for academic, personal or other non-commercial purposes, users must not reprint or electronically reproduce from the STFC website any document, graphic or image in whole or in part without the prior written permission of STFC, or in accordance with the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.

    You do not have to ask permission to link to pages hosted on our website.

    DAaaS and Data Protection

    At STFC (being a Council under, and part of, United Kingdom Research and Innovation), we intend to make sure that we maintain the UK as a world-leader in science and technology research - integral to this is our commitment to protecting and safeguarding your data privacy.

    It is part of STFC’s public purpose to provide services such as DAaaS. In order to effectively provide that service to you, we need to collect information about you and may need to contact you from time to time with regards to its provision.

    STFC considers it in the legitimate interest of anyone who has signed up to access the DAaaS service that it should be able to effectively and efficiently manage the service for their benefit. STFC therefore requests and securely holds the data which it requires for these purposes. Please ensure that, for so long as you are accessing the DAaaS service, you notify us if your information needs to be updated.

    We will not share your information with a third party. We will use your details simply to share information with you about the DAaaS project.
